We’ve just relaunched the Compendle website with a brand new design and we think it’s looking fantastic. Now the site includes much more information on how Compendle can be used in educational and corporate environments and how easily it can be integrated into VLEs like Moodle and Blackboard.

Question Builder now comes bundled with Compendle. Question Builder is a user friendly tool which provides a quick and easy way for you to create assessments, quizzes and surveys. For organisations wanting to peer review the courses they are developing, we’ve created a new module called Review Panel. Review Panel offers a collaborative online forum where you can assess and review work and projects with other people quickly and easily.

The Compendle interface has also been updated to make it even more intuitive and easy-to-use. It is now easier than ever to gather, manage, organise and publish your course materials.

As ever we want to hear any thoughts and feedback you have about the new site and about Compendle itself. So please leave a comment or get in touch by using the contribute form.

The Compendle website is undergoing a major facelift at the moment and we are really excited about the new layout and design. Members of the Compendle team recently sat down and went through all the features and information we like to see when we visit a website, so hopefully we’re incorporating things that you want to see too!

New features include detailed case studies, Compendle plugins, a brand new Compendle Community and much more. Compendle can offer different things to different people, and we hope that the new website will provide managers, teachers, IT specialists, and everyone else, the information they need.

Let us know of any features you’d like to see on the new site – we would really like hear any feedback or suggestions.

The development team is extremely happy with the recent release of Compendle. Version 2.0 includes the ability to customise MyKnowledgeMap e-learning to suit your organisation and copy a workpad so that it can be tailored towards a different audience or course.

The next release will give us an awesome platform to start bringing all our products into one suite.

With development on Compendle Author (a rapid e-learning tool) underway, Question Builder and Review Panel integration nearly complete, it shouldn’t be long before Compendle reaches its potential as a competitive e-learning tool.

Other exciting developments include integrating Compendle into repositories. Currently we are working with Intrallect to integrate Compendle into intraLibrary. Work on searching an intraLibrary repository is already complete and the ability to import and publish resources is well under way.

Assessment and Learning in Practice Settings (ALPS) are using Compendle to create assessments for UK students. They are currently piloting a new online system, created by MyKnowledgeMap, which allows universities to map student competencies and create assessments using mobile devices.

The system is aimed at students of vocational degrees, such as nursing and occupational therapy, to allow them to complete assessments whilst on work experience. They can fill in questionnaires, record audio, and liaise with their tutors through their mobiles to ensure they cover all practical aspects of their course.

Compendle has been integrated into the system to allow tutors to create assessment packages which can be sent easily to mobile devices.

The Assessment and Learning in Practice Settings (ALPS) is a collaborative programme between five universities which provide learning and teaching in health and social care: the University of Bradford, the University of Huddersfield, the University of Leeds, Leeds Metropolitan University, and York St John University.

Leading digital repository provider Intrallect are now using Compendle on their digital repository system, intraLibrary. intraLibrary allows organisations to discover, share, manage and distribute e-learning directly or through a range of tools including web portals, learning platforms, blogs, wikis, news readers and content authoring/management tools.

“Being able to organise resources in Compendle and publish to intraLibrary in a single click takes the normal time and effort out of managing resources and allows you to focus more on developing the resources themselves,” said Charles Duncan of Intrallect.

This follows the recent partnership between Intrallect and MyKnowledgeMap to work to deliver solutions that make learning resources easier to manage, repurpose, share and distribute across organisations.

Rob Arntsen, CEO of MyKnowledgeMap, said: “Both companies have an independent approach to developing products which is very much based on open standards and interoperability with other elearning tools. This ethos has provided us a simple route to integrating the product sets into a single solution.”

Compendle’s creator MyKnowledgeMap has recently teamed up with the National-Louis University to set up the European Institute for Technology in Education (EITE) in Nowy Sacz, Poland. The EITE’s primary objective will be to support utilization of e-learning in teaching at schools and universities, enterprises and private training centres.

This will include creating innovative teaching solutions using the latest technologies and developing existing MyKnowledgeMap products like Compendle.

Rob Arntsen, managing director of MyKnowledgeMap, said: “We are convinced that this is one of the crucial moments for the development of e-learning in Poland and in the region.”

The EITE is set to become one of the main European centres for educational technology. Their remit will include creating valuable e-learning tools such as interactive education games, virtual learning environments, mobile teaching systems, assessment and testing systems. At a later stage, it will offer its own educational services.

The EITE will also take part in local, European and international initiatives and policies aiming at benefiting from the development of technology for education and improving employees’ skills.
